ENTITIES: I would like my various environments to be represented

What is an environment?

Most of the time, a company possesses its own internal organisation. This can take the form of:

  •        geographical areas (continents, countries, regions, departments, delivery areas, commercial areas, etc.).
  •        functional divisions (subsidiaries, agencies, departments, factories, workshops, workstations, etc.).

Your organisation is by no means a monolithic structure, but rather a collection of several, differing environments.

And when you move from one to the other, a lot of data can change:

  •        Products available differ from one area to the next.
  •        The reference, place of manufacture, certificate or product name changes from one zone to the other.
  •        Available stocks can change from one zone to the next.

We modelled this complexity around the concept of entity. An entity allows you to represent one of your environments by selecting related and relevant data. By switching entity, the data changes to “fit” the new environment.

Example: the French environment and the German environment

Let us take a concrete example. You sell PPEs in two countries: France and Germany.

Entity 1

Entity 2

The products you sell in each country are not identical, nor are the items and volumes you store there. You may use distinct references between these 2 countries. So both environments should be modelled through 2 distinct entities.

French and German employees can easily access their respective environments. By accurately modelling these environments, you can easily compare them and put forward ideas for convergence.

To represent your environments, 2 methods are at your disposal:

Creating an entity manually

Representing your environment or updating it is simple! To learn how to create and manage entities, read our article on “Entity management”.

Creating your entities using data import

You may have dozens of agencies, countries and sales plans, and have been managing them long before using our services. To avoid any data duplicates, we are able to synchronise with your current tools to accurately reproduce your environments. This also means your environments are updated with each change in your current systems. You will find the procedure to follow here. Each of your sales areas will have the right environment readily at their disposal.
